Experience
Either Mike Mallek or Bob Henderson will greet you upon arrival. We will show you one of the two facilities where you can stay while hunting or fishing here.
We have a two bedroom house and a bunkhouse; both have a bathroom and a kitchen. These are fully equipped with an electric stove, refrigerator, linens, towels, dishes, microwave, pots and pans, as well as satellite TV.
These are non-smoking lodging places (smokers are asked to smoke outside).
Since we do not provide meals, guests will need to plan accordingly. We do however provide things like coffee, sugar, salt, pepper, pancake mix, syrup, and many basic ingredients used in cooking.
There are two restaurants located in Hamilton, 10 miles northwest, both popular with local residents. The small town of Toronto is located 15 miles southeast with a restaurant named Courtney's. Additional restaurants, grocery stores, and a sporting goods store are located in Eureka, 16 miles southeast.
We recommend that you purchase your Kansas hunting/fishing licenses before arriving, however licenses are also sold in Eureka. Children under 18 years of age when accompanied by a parent are not required to pay any fees but must have the correct licenses and hunter safety training certificates. The law requires people born after July 1, 1957 to have a hunter's safety card with them. Wives who accompany their husbands are not required to pay as long as they do not hunt or fish.

After you have unloaded and stored your gear, we will show you around the area. We have maps for your use and will help you become acquainted. We will point out any known liability risks to avoid.
Near the bunkhouse is a cleaning room where fish and game can be processed. We also have a walk-in cooler where deer and other game can be stored in warmer weather.
After settling in, we will ask you to sign two short documents: one is a hunting lease and the other is an "assumption of risk" document, saying you accept the risks inherent with hunting and fishing and will not hold us liable. We encourage you to obtain your own liability insurance.
We will then provide you with a permit card and a tag to hang on your car mirror. This will identify you as a West Creek sportsman. Our land is posted with "Hunting and Fishing by Permission Only" signs and the fence posts are painted with the color purple which, under Kansas law, provides the same protection. Always carry this permission card with you.
Persons staying at the house can enjoy many outdoor experiences within walking distance. Maps will be provided and free assistance offered to our guests for an enjoyable and memorable time.
